The Chao Center for Asian Studies, organizationally housed in the School of Humanities, is led by a dedicated team of core staff members who have offices on the second floor of the Mechanical Laboratory. In addition to this core staff, the Center is home to several postdoctoral fellows who bring academic diversity to the Center and the University and who are also housed in the second floor of the Mechanical Laboratory. The Center also brings scholars working in Asia-related fields together from various departments across campus as Asian Studies affiliated faculty members. The Center's faculty and postdoctoral fellows, as well as the Asian Studies affiliated faculty members, lead the instruction of course work required for the Asian Studies B.A. degree program. The Center is governed by an Executive Committee of Rice University faculty members and advised by a board of community leaders outside of the University.
