Ann Shi (she/hers) is the Associate Curator for the Houston Asian American Archive (HAAA) at the Chao Center for Asian Studies. She graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master of Mathematics MMath (Hons) degree and, a career in banking later, from Sotheby's Institute with a Master of Arts in Art Business with a focus on Contemporary Asian Art (New York/London). During her past life of six years as a hedge fund analyst on the trading floor, Shi immersed herself in the New York arts and music scene in her spare time. She sang in an indie rock band, performed in ad-hoc opera gigs, modeled for photography artists, and studied opera theory and singing at the Juilliard School’s evening division. Shi worked as a project assistant curator at the Moody Center for the Arts and Classical Chinese Paintings department at Christie's Auction House before joining the Chao Center for Asian Studies. Shi's role involves assisting with the collection of oral histories and managing HAAA's public programs and exhibitions.
